Tom Brokaw wrote a book titled “The Greatest Generation” to describe the generation that grew up during the deprivation of the Great Depression of the 1930’s and fought in the battles of World War 2 in the 1940’s. He says of them…“It is I believe the greatest generation any society has ever produced. These men and women fought not for fame or recognition but because it was the ‘right thing’ to do. When they came back from World War 2, they made America into a super power.” As a result of their hard work and sacrifice, the freedoms and many other blessings we enjoy are because of them. They made their world a better place to live in than they one they were born into, in so many ways. We have been the beneficiaries of their hard work and labor of love. They have had many great qualities, of which I would like to mention a few:
They valued faithfulness and loyalty. Many people today make commitments they may or may not keep. I have been thinking a lot about that lately.Their generation knew that commitments may fade but faithfulness never stops. It is now becoming rare to find individuals who are faithful in their relationships with God, family, and friends. We could learn a lot from the Greatest Generation in these areas of importance.
They took pride in “their work”. Whether it was in their job, working at home, or volunteering, all these were done so with the attitude that “if it was worth doing, it was worth doing it in the right way.” It is as if they realized they the “journey was the destination”. They weren’t afraid of work but instead embraced it. This something we have lost sight of today.
Because of their age and all the health problems that come with that, we are seeing more of them pass away. May God grant us the grace to learn from the values of the Greatest Generation how to make our world a better place now and into the future…
JBear, I agree with your New Post on Jerry Bear Tales about saying goodbye to the Greatest Generation. What is your take on the following Fwd I recently received? Yours in Christ, Rex
Time is like a river. You cannot touch the water twice, because the flow that has passed will never pass again. Enjoy every moment of life.

The American Dream ended (on November 6th) in Ohio. The second term of Barack Obama will be the final nail in the coffin for the legacy of the white Christian males who discovered, explored, pioneered, settled and developed the greatest Republic in the history of mankind.
A coalition of Blacks, Latinos, Feminists, Gays, Government Workers, Union Members, Environmental Extremists, The Media, Hollywood , uninformed young people, the “forever needy,” the chronically unemployed, illegal aliens and other “fellow travelers” have ended Norman Rockwell’s America .
The Cocker Spaniel is off the front porch… The Pit Bull is in the back yard. The American Constitution has been replaced with Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” and Chicago shyster, David Axelrod, along with international Socialist George Soros will be pulling the strings on their beige puppet to bring us Act 2 of the New World Order.
Our side ran two candidates who couldn’t even win their own home states, and the circus fatster Chris Christie helped Obama over the top with a glowing “post Sandy” tribute that elevated the “Commander-in-Chief” to Mother Teresa status. (Aside: with the way the polls were run, he didn’t need any help!)
People like me are completely politically irrelevant, and I will never again comment on or concern myself with the aforementioned coalition which has surrendered our culture, our heritage and our traditions without a shot being fired.
You will never again out-vote these people. It will take individual acts of defiance and massive displays of civil disobedience to get back the rights we have allowed them to take away. It will take Zealots, not moderates, -not reach-across-the-aisle RINO’s to right this ship and restore our beloved country to its former status.
Those who come after us will have to risk their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to bring back the Republic that this generation has timidly frittered away due to “white guilt” and political correctness… I’m done.
